Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon Releases His 2021 Budget

Syracuse, N.Y. - County Executive Ryan McMahon laid out his 2021 budget today.

The budget totals $1.25 billion, and that is $84 million less than last year’s budget for a 6.3% decrease.

McMahon mentioned that the county continues to have to deal with the Coronavirus pandemic.

McMahon said this is a “budget that reflects realities of our new normal.”

McMahon said that hiring freezes will continue, but he plans to decrease property taxes from $5.82 per $1,000 assessed value to $4.99 per $1,000 assessed value.

McMahon also said that more than $6 million will be set aside for the pandemic response to COVID-19 to purchase equipment and supplies as needed.
