Onondaga Sheriffs Warn Of Food Delivery Scam, And Stolen Vehicles

Onondaga County, N.Y. - Onondaga County Sheriffs are warning delivery drivers of a scam that could cost them their vehicle.

The Sheriff’s Office says there's been reports of at least 4 stolen vehicles related to deliveries, 3 in the Town of Clay and one in the Town of Camillus. The unknown suspect places a fake order to have food delivered. When the delivery driver arrives, they leave their vehicle unlocked and running. Once the delivery driver realizes that the order is fake, they return to the parking lot to find their vehicle stolen.

Deputies continue to investigate these incidents and would like to remind the public that leaving your vehicle running and unattended is a ticketed offense in New York State.

Deputies remind the public to always shut your engine off, lock your doors and take your keys with you.
