Oneida County COVID 19 Case May Have Exposed Hundreds

Utica, N.Y. - Hundreds of people in Oneida County may have been exposed to the coronavirus because someone who had symptoms failed to quarantine.

The county says the virus spread among members of the same family because after a male adult got sick he continued his normal routine, including being an assistant football coach and a member of a church group. He even held a birthday party for his child.

A second adult developed symptoms, but continued normal daily activities and sent their children to school.The children also got sick and exposed others after going to school, and the family allegedly took a trip to New York City as well.

If you were at the following locations during these times you may have been exposed:

Northern Community Sports Complex (recreational football team)

Holland Patent, N.Y.

Sept. 14 to Sept. 23

Bethel Baptist Church (youth group meeting)

215 Church St.

Prospect, N.Y.

Sept. 20 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

If you were present at the football practice or the youth group meeting,contact the Oneida County Health Department at 315-798-5431.

County Executive Anthony Picente said the church and the football coach are not cooperating with the health department,marking the first time they have not had cooperation.
