Man Attempts To Break Into Home, Stabs K-9

A man has been charged after stabbing a Syracuse city police dog.

Police responded to an armed burglary call on June 21st on the city's East side. The suspect, Alex Preston, reportedly fled the scene when officers arrived. Officers and K-9 were sent out to an area near the home to find Preston, who was armed with a knife. Investigators say that's when Preston swung his knife at the police dog, injuring its paw. The dog is expected to survive. Preston faces numerous charges.
