Oriskiny, N.Y. - Oneida County Sheriffs have seized a large amount of illegal fireworks following a traffic stop on Westmoreland Road in the Town of Whitestow
Investigator Rick Stanek conducted a traffic stop and during the taffic stop he noticed the rear hatch and back seat area, loaded with illegal fireworks. The fireworks were seized and the two occupants of the vehicle were released on appearance tickets.
Their names will not be released beacuse they both are under the age of 18.
Oneida County Sheriffs again remind residents that ground-based or hand held sparkling devices are the ONLY types of fireworks that are legal to buy and use.
The sale and use of these sparkler devices is only permitted in Oneida County on or between June 1st and July 5th and December 26th and January 2nd and can only be purchased by those over the age of 18.
