The J.C. Penney store in Oswego has been removed from the troubled department store chain’s list of stores to close this summer.
The good news was delivered by a sign on the store's door. It said "this location is no longer closing. We look forward to continuing to serve this community.”
J.C. Penney said it planned to close seven stores in New York, as part of a downsizing plan under Chapter 11. The list included two Syracuse-area stores, Oswego and the Destiny USA location. The Destiny USA store remains on the closing list but not the Oswego.
