Could Central New York Reopen Some Businesses Friday?

Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon says that testing numbers are still going up, in the hopes that parts of the CNY economy can reopen by Friday.

McMahon believes Wednesday’s numbers put us over the hump: the county averaged 829 tests a day over the past seven days, according to the latest county numbers. And that doesn’t include any tests in the four surrounding counties.

The County Executive also announced 3 more deaths due to COVID-19, bringing the county total to 82. The number of total positive cases is inching closer to the 1500 mark, as 63 new positive tests were returned to county health officials yesterday.

Additionally, McMahon says stores at Destiny USA and other local malls will likely be able to start offering curbside pickup to customers Friday.

Those malls have been closed since March in an effort to slow the spread of coronavirus. Stores that are allowed to be opened will be determined by the state, as part of the Governor's 4 phase plan.
