Syracuse City Common Council Passes Budget

Syracuse, N.Y. - Despite financial issues stemming from the coronavirus pandemic, the Syracuse City Common Council passed their proposed budget for next year.

The Common Council voted against increasing taxes for city residents, among other changes to Mayor Ben Walsh's original proposal.

Members of the council also decided to reduce the city's reliance on the Rainy Day Fund, citing the need to be cautious during the global COVID-19 pandemic. The budget will cover the city's fiscal needs beginning on July 1st of this year.
