New York State Will Remain “On Pause” Until May 15th

Albany, N.Y. - Governor Andrew Cuomo saying today that his order closing non-essential businesses and schools across the state has been extended through May 15.

The extension of the order called "NY on Pause" comes as the state reports 606 people died from the coronavirus in New York in the past 24 hours. That number is actually lower than the past few days.

Cuomo said total rate of hospitalizations continues to hold steady – even decreasing slightly – and intubations and the three-day average of net changes to hospitalizations continue to reflect downward trends.

Cuomo is also expanding his executive order that everyone should wear a mask or face covering when out in public, if its impossible to maintain 6 feet of seperation.

Cuomo said today people will be required to wear a mask in private transportation carriers, all operators of public systems, Uber/Lyft drivers and passengers. The face convering order goes into effect on Friday at 8 Pm.
