Coronavirus Complicates Syracuse City School Budget

Syracuse, N.Y. - Syracuse School District Officials held a virtual school board and budget meeting.

Officials say they need to cut 20 million dollars from their original $450 million proposal. Teacher cuts are not on the docket, yet.

District officials also say a challenge they are facing is not knowing when they will receive aid payments. Those have been disrupted.

School Districts have more time to find solutions to their problems. The district has until at least June 1st to hold a vote on their budget. Votes throughout the State are delayed because of the Coronavirus.

Officials say they wish to hold a public hearing on the budget draft May 4th. The way they do that remains unclear.
