Albany, N.Y. - Governor Cuomo has signed a package of bills aimed at improving limousine safety.
The laws are inspired by the limo crash in Schoharie left took the lives of a SUNY Oswego Professor and 19 others in 2018.
By 2023, limos must have enough seat belts in a limo for each passenger to use. The state will also have the authority to remove potentially dangerous limos from the road.
Meantime, separate legislation is before Congress that will require only new limousines to meet New York's new requirement.
