In national news: the Senate impeachment trial of President Trump continues this afternoon after yesterday's session ran past midnight. At one point yesterday, Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts admonished Trump attorneys and House impeachment managers. After a tense exchange, Roberts said they should avoid speaking in a manner that is "not conducive to civil discourse." He noted that the lawyers should remember where they are, calling the Senate the "world's most deliberative body." Roberts is presiding over the Senate impeachment trial. NBC's Michael Bower and Fox's Jon Decker had the latest on what could transpire on Capitol Hill today.
And the results are in for the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown: Derek Jeter and Larry Walker were elected by the Baseball Writers' Association of America on Jan. 21. Marvin Miller and Ted Simmons were elected by the Modern Baseball Era Committee on Dec. 8. Hall of Fame Weekend 2020 will take place July 24-27, with the Induction Ceremony scheduled for Sunday, July 26. John DiTullio offered his thoughts on this year's nominees.
