Syracuse, N.Y. - The 6-year-old boy who was shot by his uncle in Syracuse this week is out of a medically-induced coma, according to Syracuse Police Chief Kenton Buckner.
Police believe Miguel Russo, shot his 6-year-old nephew on Fenton St. Tuesday night. An officer responding to the home shot and killed Russo. Police say Russo, a convicted gang member, was armed.
Chief Buckner says it appears the officer’s actions were justified. Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office is leading the investigation into the shooting by the officer
Even though the 6-year-old is out of the medically-induced coma, hospital officials say he remains listed in critical condition.
Syracuse police have not released the name of the officer who shot and killed Russo.
