Syracuse University Announces New Security Measures

Syracuse, N.Y. - When Syracuse University students return from Thanksgiving break, they'll find increased security on campus.

Chancellor Kent Syverud says there will be 19 new residential community safety officers on duty. The school is also installing security cameras in strategic locations such as stairwells, elevators and common spaces.

The changes come following the discovery of racist graffiti in several buildings on campus that made national news.
