Republican Super-majority Slips On Onondaga County Legislature

Syracuse, N.Y. - Republicans have lost their Super-majority on the Onondaga County legislature.

The GOP is going from 12 seats to 11 on the 17 seat body after Democrats flipped the 7th district in DeWitt.

The shake-up is significant. 12 votes are needed to override vetoes and authorize the issuing of bonds.

It has been 40-years since Democrats were in the majority. Democrats do have a voter enrollment advantage over Republicans in Onondaga County.
