Washington, DC - Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is urging the FDA to regulate a growing industry.
The New York Democrat wants the agency to issue regulations involving the use and sale of hemp-based cannabidiol products. Under the 2018 Farm Bill, hemp farmers can produce a variety of CBD products including oils, foods and beverages. But, there are concerns about how CBD can be used legally and safely.
Schumer says a lack of guidelines is holding back the industry and could put the health of users at risk.
