DA Fitzpatrick Says Czarny Did Nothing Illegal

Syracuse, N.Y. - Onondaga County DA Bill Fitpatrick has announced County Elections Commissioner Dustin Czarny committed no crime and did not shirk his work duties when he drove for Uber or Lyft during business hours.

After investigating a complaint filed by the county comptroller, Fitzpatrick determined that Czarny did nothing wrong, but the DA recommended that the county inact a new law, that prohibits outside work during county business hours.

Fitzpatrick said it was appropriate for the comptroller to ask the district attorney to look at whether Czarny’s outside work violated any law. Although it did not, Czarny has told Fitzpatrick he will no longer drive for Uber or Lyft during business hours.
