Albany, N.Y. - The State Court of Appeals will be hearing arguments today on the fate of Robert Neulander.
The state's highest court is set to decide whether the 67-year-old former doctor will get a new murder trial or will be sent back to prison. Neulander has been free on bail for the last year. His conviction was tossed out by a lower appellate court. It was called into question after a juror admitted to having inappropriate contact with her a family member and friends who were interested in Neulander's trial.
It could take the Court of Appeals about a month to announce their decision to reinstate the conviction or uphold its overturn. Neulander will go back to prison if his conviction is reinstated. If the appeal is upheld there will be a new trial.
