Public Meetings Announced To Address Lead Paint In Rental Facilities

A series of town hall meetings has been announced to combat the city's lead paint problem across its apartment complexes.

All three meetings will be held at the Carrier Theater at the John H Mulroy Civic Center on Montgomery Street. In 2018, over 10% of children tested in Onondaga County had high levels of lead in their blood. The meetings are designed to inform members of the public, landlords, and other community members that may have concerns about lead in their neighborhood.

The Syracuse City Council aims to create legislation that would allow inspectors to test rental facilities for lead before accepting payments from tenants.
