Albany, N.Y. - Governor Cuomo has signed off more gun control bills, this time aimed at giving cops more info on gun owners:
It closes a loophole to give law enforcement access to out-of-state records to keep people with dangerous mental illnesses from getting a firearm license in the Empire State.
Another bill signed allows police officers to look up if there may be firearms present at a home they are responding to. A loophole under the SAFE Act had prevented local police agencies from being able to do so.
Supporters of the bills say it allows police to take extra precautions to keep themselves and the public safe.
