Geddes, N.Y. - Centro will add 12 buses to its fleet beginning today to provide service during what are historically the busiest days of the Great New York State Fair.
The buses are being provided by the Rochester Genesee Regional Transportation Authority. Centro will also bring in drivers from its Utica operation and from Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit to augment its local driving staff.
Centro operates Park-N-Ride lots to provide convenient access to the Fair and operates shuttles in the Fair’s Orange and Willis Ave. parking lots.
The changes come as the Fair prepares for the busiest days of its 13-day annual event. Attendance on the weekends often tops 100,000 per day, making maximum use of the approximately 15,300 spaces available in the Fair’s six public parking lots and the approximately 7,400 spaces available in Centro’s fairtime Park-N-Ride lots.
