Albany, N.Y. - Gov. Cuomo signed a new law today that criminalizes whats come to be known as ârevenge pornâ.
Cuomo says violators of the new law face up to one year in prison and , victims can seek a court order to have images removed from online.
âRevenge pornâ is considered the non-consensual sharing or publication of an intimate image.
Cuomo says "Our laws have not kept pace with technology and how abusers can use it to harass, intimidate and humiliate".
The governorâs office says this new law is a âkey achievementâ in Cuomoâs 2019 Womenâs Justice Agenda.
