Woodstock 50 Appears To Be Out Of Options

Vernon, N.Y. - The Woodstock 50 festival won't be held at Vernon Downs.

The Vernon town planning board voted last night to uphold the town's denial of the permit application.

The town maintained the application was filed too late to hold the festival next month and the paperwork was incomplete.

The festival organizers could challenge the denial in court, but say they won't.

Also last night, production company Virgin Produced, pulled its support of the festival. They say there is nolonger enough time to pull off the the 50th anniversary of the festival held at Bethel Woods.

Prior to yesterday's decision, both the county executive and sheriff called the organizers incompetent and raised questions about security plans at the facility.

Woodstock 50 was planned for August 16 through 18 at Watkins Glenn International.
