Syracuse, N.Y. - New York tax investigators seized nearly 1,000 cartons of cigarettes from an East Syracuse storage unit.
Officials have charged 29-year-old Belal Alshamiri, of Syracuse, with tax fraud and illegally selling cigarettes. After executing a search warrant at a unit at B&C Storage in East Syracuse authorities found 955 cartons of cigarettes, 85 counterfeit tax stamps, 3600 in cash, along with counterfeit Viagra, other illegal stimulants including synthetic marijuana and a vehicle. He's charged with felony Possession, Transport, or Sale, tax fraud, and possession of a forged instrument.
The Onondaga DA's office will prosecute this case.
