Woman Who Helped Two Escape From Prison Denied Parole

Albany, N.Y. - The woman who helped two escape from a prison in Dannemora has been denied parole.

Joyce Mitchell will remain behind bars for at least two more years. The prison tailor is serving 2 1/3 to 7 years for helping Richard Matt and David Sweat escape Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora in June of 2015.

She provided tools the killers used in a prison break which has been the subject of a TV mini series.

Matt was killed by police, Sweat was recaptured.

Mitchell's next parole hearing at Bedford Hills Correctional Facility is in June 2021.
