The International Joint Commission will be holding an emergency meeting today to discuss water levels in Lake Ontario.
According to Bill Reilich, a Greece Town Supervisor in suburban Rochester, members will reportedly be discussing whether to suspend Plan 2014. He says that he was given that information by Western New York Congressman Chris Collins.
Plan 2014 plan manages water levels but allows greater fluctuations within them. Some have said the plan is responsible for devastating flooding along the shoreline. Under the proposal, the regulators would return to the plan that managed the lake level for more than five decades.
It's not clear, however, if the current plan can be suspended without the support of at least one Canadian member of the IJC.
