Syracuse, N.Y. - The Syracuse Fire Department has a brand new ladder truck.
The 76,000 pound vehicle will respond from Fire Station 9 on Shuart Ave. The rig features a 110 foot steel aerial ladder with remotely controlled nozzle.
The truck also has an electric generator to provide power for the two 200 foot cord reels and a bumper mounted winch. The cost of this vehicle was $960,000 before a few extras were added, like extrication tools.
Ladder 4 will continue to perform 1st due truck duties in addition to responding to highrise building fires.
