Lawmakers Pass Bill Allowing Cameras On School Bus Stop Signs

Albany, N.Y. - The state Senate has given final legislative approval to a bill allowing cameras to record drivers who illegally pass stopped school buses.

The idea is to protect children as they get on, and off, the buses.

The cameras will be mounted on the stop-arms. Supporters of the bill say thousands of drivers break the law every day in New York.

The bill now heads to the governor, and he is expected to sign it.
