State Lawmakers Pass Bill Banning Toys With Hazardous Chemicals

Albany, N.Y. - State lawmakers have passed legislation to ban toys made with toxic chemicals.

It would require manufacturers to tell state regulators if a toy has hazardous materials in it, like lead. Then beginning in 2023, toys with certain toxic chemicals would be completely prohibited.

Opponents say the legislation would hurt businesses in the region.

The bill now heads to Governor Cuomo's desk.
