Elbridge, N.Y. - A multi-million dollar overhaul of Route 5 in Elbridge begins this morning.
State DOT crews will be working for the next several months on a one mile stretch between Chamberlin and Sunview Drives. They will be widening the road, putting in a turning lane, and repaving the road.
The Route 5 project should be completed by the end of the year.
Officials say that traffic will still be able to move through the constriction though traffic control measures will occasionally be used for short-term lane closures.
