Man Who Shot And Killed His Wife And State Trooper Will Serve Life

Jefferson County, N.Y. - A former Army sergeant found guilty of murdering his wife and a State Trooper sentenced to Life.

Justin Walters will spend life in prison without parole for shooting and killing his wife Nicole and State Trooper Joel Davis in July of 2017.

Walters was found guilty back in March. Trooper Davis was shot as he was responding to a domestic call at Walters home. Another woman inside the home was shot but survived.

Walters' defense lawyer said he suffered form mental issues and wasnt in control of his actions.

Walters was a staff sergeant with the 10th Mountain Division based at nearby Fort Drum. He served two tours in Afghanistan.
