Syracuse, N.Y. - The funeral for the long-time Auxiliary Bishop of the Catholic Diocese begins Friday morning.
Camden native Thomas Costello became a priest in 1954 and was ordained the auxiliary bishop in 1978. He served under six of the diocese’s 10 bishops before retiring in 2004. For five years after that, he was Bishop Cunningham's assistant.
His funeral mass begins at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Cathedral. He will be buried at 2:00 p.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in Rome.
