Troopers Ticket Tractor Trailer Drivers Who Caused Thruway Pileup

Batavia, N.Y. - New York State Police have ticketed 2 Tractor Trailer drivers for causing the accident on the Thruway yesterday that involved 19 vehicles and injured a State Trooper.

The crash occurred around 2:00 p.m. at mile marker 382 eastbound on the Thruway.

Police say a tractor trailer traveling eastbound lost control, jack knifed, and struck the rear of a Trooper Dominique Wilson’s troop car pushing it out into the roadway where she was then sideswiped by a second tractor trailer.

Trooper Wilson sustained non-life threatening injuries. Two other individuals also sustained non-life threatening injuries in the ensuing pileup.

Both of the tractor trailer drivers, Richard Magezi, 41 years old, of Fort Worth, TX and Michael L. Lambert, 54 years old of Hartford, CT were ticketed for Disobeying a Traffic Control Device, Speed Not Reasonable and Prudent, Following Too Closely , and Driving Across Hazard Markings.
