DeWitt Police Arrest Jewelry Thief

DeWitt, N.Y. - DeWitt Police have arrested a jewelry thief.

31-year-old Kyle Kaufman went to the Kay Jewelers store on Erie Boulevard to try on some gold jewelry. Once he had the jewelry on he ran out of the store. The jewelry was worth more than $4,300.

But police say that he left a fingerprint behind. Police were able to match the print because he had been arrested back in October. In that case, Kaufman was hit with over 100 charges for stealing rings and credit cards from an 83-year-old patient he was caring for while working as a home health aide.

Kaufman has been charged with third-degree grand larceny.
