Albany, N.Y. - The longtime head of the New York State Conservative Party is stepping down.
Seventy-eight-year-old Mike Long has spent three decades leading the party, but he says it's now time to retire. The party is holding an election next month to replace the open position. Long's decision to give up the post comes after Democrats took control of the state Senate in last year's elections.
Long vows to still be involved in state politics going forward.
