UPDATE 1/11/2019 3:40 pm - Investigators have found and removed the bodies of 6 and 7-year-old boys from the house.
Herkimer, N.Y. - Three children killed in a house fire in Herkimer this morning
The fire broke out around 6 in the village of Herkimer. Two adults were woken up by the smoke detectors, and tried to get to the three children in the home but were unsuccessful. They exited the home, and attempted to go back in, but weren't able to reach them.
Investigators have recovered the body of a one-year-old boy. His 6 and 7-year-old brothers are still "unaccounted for," but presumed dead, according to the fire chief.
Search dogs have been brought in to find the bodies of the two boys, who it's believed were in the middle of the first floor.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
