A Vaccine For Heroin Addiction?

Syracuse, N.Y. - SUNY Upstate will test an experimental vaccine used to help people who struggle with heroin and opioid addiction.

The vaccine would bind heroin in the blood and stop passage into the brain, blocking some of its addictive effects.  Researchers say this could be the tool they need to curb the country's growing drug problem.

Clinical trials could start next year.
