Oriskany, N.Y. - Oneida County Sheriff's are investigating an apparent suicide in the county jail.
31-year-old Scott Hence was found unresponsive in his cell Saturday. Correction officers began life-saving measures until he was taken to St Elizabeth Hospital in Utica. He was transferred to Upstate Medical in Syracuse later that evening where he was pronounced dead.
An autopsy will be performed today.
Hence was being held for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, and a Parole Violation. The matter has also been referred to the New York State Commission of Correction for their investigation.
