Utica Police Rule Shooting Justifiable Homicide

Utica. N.Y. - Around 5am this morning Utica police responded to Lincoln Ave residence where they found a 35-year-old male who had been shot.

Shatelle Hooks of Syracuse was later pronounced dead. Police identified the shooter as Christofer Kitto, an off-duty Albany Police Officer.

During an altercation Hooks displayed a knife and demanded property from Kitto in an attempt to rob him. Kitto drew a weapon and shot Hooks several times, ultimately causing his death.

The shooting appears to be a justifiable homicide.

Kitto, however, will be charged with one count of Patronizing a Prostitute.
