Syracuse, N.Y. - Three people are facing assault charges for attacking the girlfriend of Syracuse First murder victim of the year.
The DA's Office is reporting the arrests of 20-year-olds Lula Stewart and Tatiayana Higdon along with a 16-year-old. The attack followed Kawon Chavis being shot dead in the hallway of the Corning Arms apartments on Wednesday.
Officials say they believe the attack was an effort to get the girlfriend to say what she knew about Chavis' murder.
