Syracuse Police Arrest Two in New Year's Day Stabbings

Syracuse police make two arrests in stabbing attacks occurring just as 2019 is getting underway.

Officers were sent to the VA Hospital on Irving Avenue just past midnight and found a man who told police his wife had attacked him.  The two were having a fight when Zanette Knighton swang a knife at the victim and cut him.

Just after 6 pm, officers sent to Butternut Street found Tyler Gammons holding a pair of scissors.  Gammons was taken into custody.  Officers learned that Gammons stabbed an 18-year-old in the back during a fight.

Neither victim has serious injuries.  Both Knighton and Gammons face assault and weapons charges and are in custody.
