State Troopers Investigating Hit And Run With Amish Buggy

Town of Newport - State police are looking for an SUV involved in an early morning Hit and Run with an Amish buggy. 

Around 8 am this morning, Troopers responded to an accident in the town of Newport. It happened on Summit Road just west of Fishing Rock Road. 

Witnesses say a blue metallic Chevy Traverse struck an Amish buggy causing serious injuries to the horse. The operator of the buggy, 39-year-old Christ D. Zook, from Poland, NY was not injured but a local veterinarian responded to the scene and had to euthanized the horse, due to the severe leg injuries. 

Troopers are searching for the vehicle and ask anyone with information about the crash or the vehicle to contact them at (315) 366-6000.
