OCRRA Offers Christmas Tree Recycling

Now that Christmas is over, it's now time to make that dreaded decision - when to take down the Christmas tree and what to do with it!

OCRRA says that many municipalities do collect your Christmas tree, but that you should contact your own municipality about it, as collection times and methods vary quite a bit.  In the event your city, town, or village does not collect trees, OCRRA will accept them at their compost facilities.  Regardless of who recycles your tree, all of them are turned into mulch that OCRRA will sell to the public beginning in the spring.

OCRRA will start accepting trees at their Jamesville or Amboy compost sites on January 2nd and 3rd, as well as January 7th through the 11th, from 7:30 am until 4 pm. The Jamesville compost site is at 4370 Route 91, and the Amboy site can be found at 6296 Airport Road in Camillus.  Get more information on Christmas tree recycling from the OCRRA website.
