State Unemployment Ticks Down To Historic Low

Albany, N.Y. - In more than 40 years of tracking the state's unemployment rate, it's never been lower. 

The state labor department says the jobless rate fell in New York to 3.9 percent in November, down from 4 percent in October. The number of unemployed New Yorkers fell to roughly 379,000 last month, the lowest number in 30 years.

The biggest job gains last month were in the educational and health services industries. 

The biggest losses were in publishing, telecommunications. and manufacturing.
