Another Crash Involving A New York State Trooper

Toen of Onondaga, N.Y. -  Another accident involving A State Trooper, the second one this week happened on Route 81 North int he Town of Onondaga this morning.

A marked State Police patrol vehicle with emergency lights on was assisting a disabled vehicle on the shoulder of Interstate 81 north one mile north of State Route 11.

A car being driven by 40-year-old Diane Lopez-Edouard, from Endicott, NY was approaching the scene when she saw traffic slowing and she said couldn’t stop in time, so she swerved to the right striking the driver’s side rear of the state police vehicle. 

Lopez-Edouard was taken to Upstate University Hospital for fractures to both arms.

Tpr. Andrew Broderick was taken to the hospital with neck and back injuries where he was treated and released.  

Lopez-Edouard was ticketed for violating New York State's Move Over Law. 

New York’s “Move Over” Law requires cars to move over, if they can safely do so, for police, firefighters, ambulance workers, tow-truck drivers, and other personnel as they work at crash scenes. 

Motorists are similarly required to move when construction and maintenance vehicles are stopped alongside roads.
