Joseph Cecile Will Stay On As 1st Deputy Chief Of Syracuse Police

Syracuse, N.Y. - It looks like Joseph Cecile will remain first deputy chief for the Syracuse Police Department. 

Cecile, a 33-year veteran of force will serve as second in command to the newly appointed chief, Kenton Buckner.

Cecile was one of the three finalist and Former Chief Frank Fowler choice to replace Fowler but Mayor Ben Walsh appointed Buckner the new Chief.

Buckner came to Syracuse from Arkansas earlier this month. 

Cecile joined the force in 1985 and has been a deputy chief since 2010. He spent three-and-a-half years as first deputy under Fowler.
