State Legislators Are Unhappy With Their Pay Raise

Albany, N.Y. - State Legislators are apparently unhappy with their massive pay raise.

State Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie says that there are some "technical flaws" with how the Compensation Commission dealt with limiting the outside income of those in the State Assembly and Senate.  He made the remarks at a meeting with Democrats. They picked him to continue as Speaker.

Lawmakers are also upset that the commission backed raising Gov. Cuomo's Salary to a quarter million dollars without similar restrictions.

A special session of both the Senate and Assembly would need to happen before the end of the year in order to overturn the recommendations.

Senate Republicans have been reaching out to their members to see if they could return to Albany.

Heastie is not committing to a special session.
