Salina Surpervisor Is Stepping Down

Salina, N.Y. - Salina Town Supervisor Mark Nicotra will step down from his post at the end of 2018. 

Nicotra will take on the role of Executive Communications Director for Onondaga County.   

County Executive McMahon said, “Mark has done an outstanding job as Supervisor of the Town of Salina and I am grateful that he has agreed to join our team and help implement our vision for our community as a whole.” McMahon continued, “As I have said before, it will take all of us coming together to tackle issues of poverty, infrastructure and economic development and I am confident that Mark will do a great job bringing our message to our various partners.”

Deputy Supervisor/1st Ward Councilor Colleen Gunnip will assume the duties of the Supervisor’s office at midnight December 31st.

Nicotra represented the 4th Ward (Lyncourt and Galeville) on the Town Board from 2002- 2007 and served as Town Supervisor since 2008.

In a press release Nicotra stated "Through my tenure the Town was able to provide our residents services they wanted, from maintaining their streets, providing parks and recreation activities, fire protection, assisting our seniors, to basic needs such as sewers and drainage. All of which was delivered to our residents at an affordable cost."

He went on to say "Being an elected official in the Town of Salina for the past 17 years has been the honor of a lifetime,”  and Nicotra added, “A new challenge awaits that will be an outstanding opportunity for myself and my family.”
