Cuomo Signs Bill Closing Sex Crime Loophole

Albany, N.Y. - Governor Cuomo has signed a bill that closes a loophole that may have allowed instances of sexual misconduct, at private schools in the State, to go unreported to police.

The Bill makes staff at private high schools throughout New York into mandatory reporters of sexual misconduct. It was already the law for public schools. Many private schools did report these incidents to the police as a matter of school policy.

The Governor signed the bill Friday.  The law goes into effect in June.
