JD School Board Fill Vacancies After Fallout From Graduate's Suicide

DeWitt, N.Y. - The J-D School Board filled two vacancies last night.

The positions of  board president and school board member were filled by former members. Those resignations last month followed public uproar after how the board handled the suicide of a recent graduate and the accusation that he was bullied by a teacher.

18-year-old Blake Lucas was supposed to go to SUNY Binghamton this Fall. Instead, he drove through a utility pole and into the Community Library of DeWitt & Jamesville in August.

School Board Members say they are committed to mental health and are holding a listening session Thursday at the Library to hear about the communities concerns.
